Dr. Allison Stephens, Ph.D.

SAIH Technical Assistance Consultant/Collaborator

My Story

Dr. Allison Stephens is a Fulbright US Scholar, researcher, and systems strategist. She brings direct experience as a community-based organization leader, nonprofit board member, advocate, implementation scientist, and Systems for Action grantee.

As Statewide Family Network Director at Nevada PEP, she led SAMHSA-funded programs serving families of children with disabilities. She designed state certification processes, built family peer support infrastructure, and drove systems change from inside a CBO.

Her implementation science practice spans community-engaged research design, capacity building, and translating evidence into community and clinical systems. Dr. Stephens also was a co-investigator on a Systems for Action-funded program. That project, which integrated behavioral science into faith-based family ministries, gives her a firsthand understanding of the challenges SAIH's partner organizations navigate.

Dr. Stephens has served on multiple nonprofit boards and held state legislative, gubernatorial, and federal positions. This includes the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents and the Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committee (MEDCAC). She is a lifelong advocate across children's mental health, environmental justice, and health equity

Dr. Stephens holds a PhD in Biomedical Informatics, an MEd in Health Promotion, and is completing an MS in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
